Training hall footage; the 77s about to begin

After a short trip up to London, where I was able to get away from the hellish EuroDisney compound, I’m now back at the action.

In a few short minutes the men’s 77 A session will commence, where judging from the opening attempts listed on the board there’s going to be a repeat of last year’s tight battle between China’s Lu Xiaojun and Armenia’s Tigran Martirosyan; they’re both listed at 165 and 200. But this year the 2008 gold medallist from Beijing, Korea’s Sa Jaehyouk, will also be lifting, and a few other entrants who have at least 155 and 190 listed as their openers means anything can happen.

The athletes are lining up now–judging from the cheers in the crowd Tigran has brought the same squadron of professional yellers that was in attendance at last year’s worlds.

More later, but first some footage from the training hall the other day…
